We are here on a mission to live a fuller, healthier life with fitness as our foundation. We are here to inspire others by our example, and to support each other on this journey. If you ask anyone who’s been involved with CrossFit for any length of time what makes it special, they will undoubtedly answer “The Community”. The coming together of our people to support each other- no matter what level of fitness, no matter what their age or stage of life, no matter where they are from or what they do - because together we are better.
On Saturday November 25th, we will be hosting our 2nd Annual Intramural Championships here at CrossFit Solid Ground.
This friendly, in-house competition is a team event and so much more. This is the coming together of our community, to challenge and to celebrate each other, all in support of a cause that benefits our local community at large.
Here’s how it works:
Everyone registers individually, at whatever level (Fitness, Development, Performance) they are comfortable. After you register, we will handle pairing you with a coach and putting you on a team. Participants will be evenly distributed to team captains based on ability level, meaning each team will have an even number of “Fitness”, “Development”, and “Performance” athletes. All members of the team will earn points for their team in each “event” (workout!). The competition will include individual, partner and team scored events to determine an overall team score. At the end of the weekend we will crown a 2017 Intramural Champion Team!
This competition is a great chance to test your fitness and see how your hard work is paying off. Each day you come to the gym and you train hard. For many people, this event is a great opportunity to get outside of their comfort zone, compete with their friends and challenge themselves in a new way. The great news is, you’ll be doing it alongside your fellow members, the CFSG family, who only want to see you win.
This friendly competition also has a few twists. Each team will also receive points for helping our local community and donating to our canned food drive. Last year the gym community donated 1450 items to the Richmond Hill Food Bank. This year, we are hoping to donate over 2000 items to our local Yellow Brick House, which supports and empowers women and children rebuilding their lives.
We’ll be releasing more information in the coming weeks, but for now…
Mark your calendars and save the date;
Register at the front desk; and
Start challenging your fellow members!
We are looking forward to a great day of fun and fitness, celebrating all your hard work, and witnessing what our community can accomplish together!
Team Note: Registration fees include a team jersey for each athlete, and all proceeds will be used towards the purchase of an AED for the gym. An automated external defibrillator (AED) is a small, lightweight, and portable electronic device that St. John Ambulance recommends for every home and workplace. It works by delivering an electric shock through the chest wall of a person whose heart has stopped beating. It is proven to be one of the most important tools in saving the life of someone suffering sudden cardiac arrest.
