...But this isn't WHY we do what we do.
Not a lot of people truly understand what CrossFit is all about, or why we do what we do.
They might see the CrossFit Games on TV on ESPN, or they might see some of the silliness on social media.
But the core of what CrossFit is and why we do what we do is often lost in the noise, or the sensationalisation of the sport of CrossFit.
Not only that, there are many different CrossFit facilities, all with very different intentions and different cultures, defined by their leadership.
So what is it really? And why do WE do what we do?
Here at the Solid Ground Athletic Academy, CrossFit training is about helping you be a better version of yourself. Period. This is why we do what we do. Our goals is to help you build a foundation of strength and fitness, to surround you with like-minded people who care about taking care of themselves and each other, and who are passionate about living a full and healthy life.
How do we do this?
We will help you move better.
The core of our programming is about building real, functional strength and fitness. We want you to know how to use your body, how to be strong and stable in all of your joints, how to properly engage and activate your body during real movements that can be applied to your every day life. We work to develop body awareness that will help you in everything that you do, including but not limited to: Balance, Coordination, Agility and Accuracy with your body and your movement. Moving better builds confidence. You'll know when you feel it.
We will make you stronger.
Yes, we will make you stronger. Whether you've never exercised in your life and need to build basic strength to support your body properly, to sit with good posture, to move without hurting yourself, or whether you are an Elite Athlete looking to be and feel stronger than you ever have before. We will make you stronger. And it doesn't stop at the physical. Because when you encounter challenge on any level - physical, mental, emotional, spiritual - the mechanism for how you respond to it, and how you handle it, is fundamentally the same. You'll get stronger in every way, because of the training and the environment that we create together.
We will make you fitter.
When we talk about fitness, we're talking about an extremely well-rounded picture of the word. We want you to have explosive power, and long-lasting "staying" power, endurance and stamina. We want you to be able to use your body at the drop of a hat without it over-reacting. We want you to be able to do hard work - WOD's, hiking, running, sports, playing with your kids - without being limited by your cardiovascular capacity, and for you to be able to "bounce back" and recover quickly, no matter what your age or stage of life. And again, this doesn't stop at the physical - you'll develop the mental and emotional resiliency to bounce back from the inevitable challenges that life throws your way.
