As The Open Approaches...

The CrossFit Games Open is quickly approaching. This is the first step in the yearly qualification process for the CrossFit Games. For five weeks starting February 23, CrossFit HQ releases one workout each week. Based on performance the top 20 men and women in each region qualify for Regionals. But the open is much more than that.  

It's an opportunity to connect with the rest of the worldwide CrossFit community, working through the same challenges together, week after week.

For those interested, it's also an amazing opportunity to see how you measure up against the other 200,000+  competitors worldwide.  

This can be one of the best times of the year... or one of the most stressful... based on how you approach it.  By having the right mindset, you can open up to the possibility to do things you never thought you could do. You can focus on doing your best and challenging yourself honestly.  You can focus on enjoying the excitement of the worldwide buzz.  Or, you could go in with unrealistic expectations that miracles are going to happen, that somehow quantum leaps in your abilities will somehow manifest just because it's the open, and you may be met with disappointment.  We strongly recommend the former!


Whether you are going to be involved in the open for the first time or if you have competed before, we'd love to have you join us this year for the 2017 CrossFit Games Open as part of Team Solid Ground.

Each Friday, the open workout will be the scheduled workout of the day (so you'll be doing the workouts in class already anyways!). The open also gives you a good understanding of the movements that may require more dedication in your training, helping you see where to focus your energy in the coming year to make improvements.  

We love using the open for this most of all - as a benchmark, and a learning opportunity, for us to see where we can spend time in our training to improve.

You have put in the work and have earned the movements you are capable of. If you want to want to be capable of more you need to earn it, and we're here to support you and help make that happen. 

We encourage all of our Solid Ground family members to get involved, sign up for the open and be a part of the fun that is "The Open"!   Registration opens on Thursday January 12th at www.games.crossfit.com.
